Spinners are one of the most diverse families of lures available.  There are as many different spinners to choose from as there are flies for the fly fisherman.  Spinners come in all shapes, sizes and for all different purposes, but the one thing they have in common is the one thing that makes them so effective.

All spinners have a small, reflective piece of metal attached that is able to move freely as they travel through the water.  This gives off reflection and attracts fish.  When researching spinners you’re probably heard the term “retrieve speed”, this is how fast the lure can be pulled through the water and achieve its desired effect.

Spinners are one of the most popular and effective baits for freshwater fishermen of all types.   Everything from bass to trout can be taken on spinning tackle.
